Just curious and trying to understand “holistic” - are there any students who have been accepted to either Georgia Tech or UT Austin, but not accepted to UIUC or Purdue or UW or PSU et al?

Not the exact combination you’re asking about, but my son’s friend was accepted into Caltech and Purdue, but rejected by UT Austin (OOS) and waitlisted at UIUC (OOS).

Accepted to UIUC (CS), Purdue (CS), waitlisted Georgia Tech (CS), rejected by UT Austin (CS)

Accepted to Georgia Tech (CS) and UIUC (CS), and rejected by UT Austin (CS)

Thanks. This seems to be a more common scenario (acceptance by purdue/uiuc and rejection/WL by GT/UTA). I am looking for the opposite scenario, especially acceptance by GT but rejection/WL in purdue/UIUC (OOS enrollment in UTA is less than 10%, while GT OOS enrollment (overall) is more than 50%).

DS was accepted at UIUC, UW (in state), and Cal Poly SLO, waitlisted at Purdue, and rejected at UT Austin.

I am sure there are all sort of combinations possible depending on what major being talked about.

I heard there is an official/unofficial Facebook group for 2021 UIUC Admitted Families. Any directions to such a group?

Here you can find other social media links as well as newsletter enrollment.

It was like 63% transfer acceptance rate for Gies for fall 2020 according to a Piazza post that was referenced on Reddit. Average gpa was 3.8

Gies places plenty in great jobs as well.

My son was accepted into chemical engineering. Does anyone know how big the engineering classes are at UIUC? And what the student/faculty ratio is within engineering? I’ve found this information for UIUC overall, but not for Grainger specifically.

It certainly vary from class to class. However during first year, lots of generic classes, expect a relative large class size.

I am waitlisted for CS. Should I contact AO or just wait for a few months?

ChemE is housed in LAS

Chemical Engineering at UIUC is actually not in Grainger but is part of Liberal Arts there so you should make sure you’re familiar with those requirements. It’s a great program and the history of why it’s not part of engineering is also explained on their website. As for class sizes I can’t comment on that.

Happened to see this news today. Just wondering how much tuition needs to be collected to pay the law suit.

For that reason, I am out
