UIUC Essays

These are the essay questions for the application:

Tell us more about yourself by providing information not addressed elsewhere on this application. In an essay of about 300 words, describe your passions and special interests. In your opinion, what makes you unique?

In an essay of about 300 words, tell us more about your professional and intellectual aspirations and prior personal experiences relevant to your choice of a specific college or academic program at the University of Illinois.

Do I need to go out of the way to think of some inspirational story to write about myself to explain those qualities in those essays or do I simply answer the questions as they are stated?

[I edited my previous post]:

In all seriousness, you should focus on making your essays particularly inspirational/spectacular/poignant/clever if your stats are somewhat below average. In any case, you should ALWAYS try to make your essays as creative as possible.

Remember, with UIUC, there will always be kids with stats that are better than yours, who are applying for the same slot in the college. Separate yourself from them with a spectacular essay.

And also, and this is beside the point, but I was given the exact same two essay prompts when I applied last winter.
