I am currently a student in Purdue university and i just finished my first year of study in accouting major but after i found out my interest in business isn't really accouting and Purdue doesn't offer a good finance major or programs i plan to tansfer out of purdue after next semster

So here are my questions, is UIUC's Finance major better of IU's? which is cheaper as outstater? My GPA overall is 3.17 and 3.4 for last sem do i have a shot for either of these schools? If i transfer, do they check my SAT score and just looking my college scores?

I know i post this thread in other section as well im sorry admin and i need the answer fast pls dont delete this.
Thanks

IU imo is better for finance. Let me put it this way, if you do well at Kelley as a finance major, have nice ecs and internships, you can get a nice gig upon graduation. Some people might argue that UIUC is better, but most don't. Prices can be found on collegeboard, SAT isnt going to be that much of a determining factor assuming you didn't do too bad (1800+). From what I understand transfers rely heavily on college gpa and not so much on high schools stats, though they will want to see them. Hope this helps!

I’d say hold your breath until you actually get into the business schools at IU or UIUC. I study at UIUC and I know alot of kids with reasonably good GPAs being denied admission to the business school (I believe the average GPA for intercollege transfer itself about 3.5/3.6. your GPA seems low IMO)

Agreed. I didn’t want to sound to rude. But if you have some great extra-curriculars or can explain why you have the low grades there might be a small chance. Here’s the link to the GPA chart for inter-college transfers. This isn’t for off campus transfers so i’d assume that it would be even harder for you.

You are going to have a difficult time being accepted to either school, and getting into either school’s business program will be even harder. It will be easier to be accepted into IU’s business program than U of I. IU does have a slightly better finance program, while U of I has a slightly better accounting program.
