I want to study Computer Engineering and pre-med. Where do you think its better to go?

After scholarships,
Illinois would probably be 30k
UMCP would probably be 17k

I know engineering is tough to get a high gpa for pre-med, so I would probably switch to Computer Science if my gpa starts to slip. I just want some advice as to which school has a better engineering program

Depends… Is money an issue for your family? If you want the best education possible (as well as the school with the better ENG reputation) you should go to UIUC, IF your family is well off. If not, Maryland is a GREAT school. You will get a great education at both of them. Visit both campuses, talk to people who went there/go there and decide based on finance and your experiences at both schools.

Then I would go to UMCP. You will get a job after graduating from either school. If you work hard and maintain good grades it really doesn’t matter if you go to the #6 program or the #20 program (ranks are over-rated anyway). You will get an education that is just as good regardless. UMCP @ 17k > UIUC @ 30k. There is no need to put your family in a bigger hole than they can afford.

oh I was not planning on working after school. I’m doing pre-med and hopefully medical school O: But if I don’t get in, I want engineering as a backup :P
