I recently just got accepted into Physics in the LAS College. I was wondering since Engineering Physics and LAS Physics are very similar, would jobs really look at your degree to see if you got your Physics degree from Engineering over LAS even though they are similar?

Not directly related to your question. But Chemical Engineering at UIUC is under LAS instead of Engineering. I think what is more important is the curriculum of the program. There are also computer science programs at Umich in both CoE and LSA. Most people said the career prospects of them have little difference.

Thank you very much!

Really, there is no difference between the curriculum for Engineering Physics and LAS Physics. Maybe, possibly, if you are looking to get a job directly after you get your bachelor’s, engineering physics might have a slight upper hand. Other than that, no difference. Source: I was accepted to LAS for physics too! I also recently went to the physics departmental meeting where they explained everything.

Really? Me too! I went Saturday March 1, 2014 for the Physics Admitted Students Day. Did you see me?

Hint: I was the only black guy there. Literally. LoL

Yeah I saw you! I was one of the, like, five girls. I have short brown hair and I had the purple coat. I asked the question about the Society for Women in Physics during the students meeting. I’m not sure if I’m going to U of I yet, but I’ll see you there if I do! :)

Haha I remember you! I’m not sure if I will attend UIUC yet either! I’m waiting on MIT and the University of Chicago. If I do see you at UIUC though, we could be awesome physics friends! :)
