UIUC vs BU (Business)

I got accepted to both universities.

UIUC is in rural area and BU’s tuition is expensive but these are not the biggest factors for me to consider.

I just want to choose the university that will benefit me more in the future.

First I felt like UIUC was a better school for me because it had top accounting major.

But people always tell me to go to BU. They say that BU is a twice harder school to get in to and has better reputation.
Some people don’t even know about UIUC.

I don’t understand how BU is more popular when UIUC was constantly in 35-45th college ranking while BU went up from 90th to 40th in short period of time. (90th 2001 -> 60th 2010 -> 40th 2015)

I am an international student so I don’t really know how people feel about these universities.

Is UIUC not a popular school?

Don’t go off of prestige or name or rankings. What raises eyebrows or impresses people at barbecues doesn’t matter. If you like UIUC better, then go there! UIUC is certainly a fine school where you can receive a solid education.

I don’t think either of them are prestigious!

Isn’t it important to rely on other’s opinion, reputation and ranking since you can not try both school and decide it?
I wanna know why people generally think BU is a better school because there should be a reason for it. Is it just because it’s in a big city?..
