GaTech is in-state while I'm pretty sure UIUC is higher ranked, but tell me if I'm wrong. Basically, my main problem is that I'm wondering if Georgia Tech is good enough to get me into a good grad school. I'd rather stay in-state, but I wouldn't mind going to UIUC if GT isn't good enough.

Yes, UIUC has the higher rated physics program. But, if you do well at GT and do undergrad research there so that a prof will write good letters of recommendation for you, then you can get into a good grad school (I assume you mean for a physics PhD). Good luck!

GTech is top world class public University so it won’t hold you back from anything. Georgia Tech is higher rank than UIUC overall. I think it will be extremely stupid if you turn down the in-state tuition for GTech and attend UIUC by paying the out of state tuition. SO, definitely GTech…

Go GTech…The risk of incurring a debt however low it maybe, is definitely not worth a “slightly” better undergrad degree.

Unless you recieve some awesome scholarship that makes Illinois cheaper definitely go to GaTech. Even though UIUC’s program is higher ranked you are really in a position where you cannot really go wrong. May as well save the cash. Good Luck.
