UK student entry to MIT

Hi there all

I'm an international undergrad student and expecting a first class honors, all my grades over the last year have been Straight A's with one B1 (above b below a)

I had a difficult childhood and did not do well at school, anyway I am 30 when I graduate and have done really well so far. My School grades were nothing special very average. I need to know if there is any point in having an interest at MIT, i have the funding available but what are the chances of me getting in, I would love to speak to someone at MIT to at least tell me not to bother applying.

My other option is to do a masters at a relatively good university in the uk and aim for a masters with distinction.

Can anyone give me some fair advice, I am not afraid to hear the truth.

I can tell you that as part of my project I built something that will help less abled folk one day; electronic motors, solenoids all built from scratch, PIC programming to control this device (I won't say what it is) and so forth. And I have generated alot of interest at my university.

Anyway I think anyone applying to MIT would most likely be able to do this in their sleep so I don't feel like I have done anything special at all.

Bottom line is sometimes you have to ask a second opinion, I know the difference between dreams and reality.
