UK Unis and Test Scores

I am applying to St. Andrews, Durham, Bristol, Kings, and Warwick for politics/international relations through the Common App.

My test scores and GPA are:

GPA- 94.52/100 UW
ACT- 33 composite
AP World-5
AP Lang-5
APUSH-4
(taking euro, lit, spanish, and ab calc this year)
U.S. History Subject Test-720

I was wondering which of these score I should submit and if these unis require official score reports or just what I self-reported in Common App? If anyone would like to chance me that would also be much appreciated

Thanks!

You have to report ALL your scores, and they will also want predictions from your GC (or recommender) for the scores on the tests you are taking this year. For the application you self-report; if you get an offer you provide the official score reports needed to meet your offer.

You don’t need any help chancing- you can do it for yourself. Look up the standard offer for the exact subject you are applying to at each uni, and cross reference it with the international student requirements*. If you meet the requirements, have a decent essay and LoR you are very likely to get an offer from the uni (though IR at St As is slightly tougher- you will want to be on the strong end of the requirements).

*note that where you have duplicate subjects in subject tests and APs (as in USH) they will only count 1 of them

I would say you are right in their wheel house in terms of grades. As long as your PS and TR are up to snuff you should get offers from all of them. Some will ask for 5 in one of your remaining AP’s to keep you ‘honest’.

My kid’s GC did not submit predicted grades and I’m guessing his LOR was very generic. I hope that doesn’t hurt her and they realize that a US public school GC has ~750 students hence doesn’t actually know any of them.

Predictive grades are less important for US applicants to UK schools because many will have already 3 AP’s under their belt when applying, along with ACT/SAT. As long as they are mainly 5’s and in relevant subjects, this academic track record will be good enough for most UK schools to make an offer, be it conditional or otherwise.

She’s in an IB program and when she asked him about predicted grades he just said “we don’t do that”

Hmmmm, does she have ACT/SAT score, and when will she receive her IB results?

Also, I forgot to include this in the original post, but I am planning on taking a gap year. Does anyone know if these schools would allow me to defer entry for a year? All of their websites say to indicate any plans to defer a year on the UCAS, but Common App doesn’t give me that option…

Gap years/deferred admission are quite common.

Put it in your Personal Statement if there’s nowhere else.
