Um... embarrassing question

Hello :)

So.... I procrastinated, but at last I am ready to submit my app to Harvard. However, I just learned that credit card payments are processed slowly by the Common App. Thus, I do not want to risk this method, since I am close to the deadline. If I mail my check and postmark it by tomorrow, will it be too late for Harvard? I know it accepts postmark deadlines when application materials are mailed, but I am not sure for "just a check"...

Thank you very much and good luck to all the applicants! :)

Credit card payments are processed almost instantly on the Common App.

How do I know this? I submitted my credit card payment for another school and it took at most 20 secs to finalize my payment.

Sending a check through mail would be slower and there’s greater risk in the check not arriving at its intended destination.

Whoever told you the other stuff is wrong.

Good luck!

Hello Spaceduck:)

Thank you for the reply! I don’t know why, but when I try to proceed my payment for Yale, I get this notice:

“For students paying application fees by credit card: please note that the processing of a credit card fee may take 1-2 days to reflect with the Common App Online. This college will not receive your application until your fee has been successfully processed. You may pay the fee at any point, even before submitting your application. We recommend that you do this to avoid a delay if you submit your application close to the deadline.”

Nonetheless, I will try to relax, there is no going back now :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheers!

I haven’t gotten that notice at all with the colleges I’ve paid for (Princeton and USC) on the common app.

That notice is probably for Yale, I suggest paying soon since you’re intent on applying.

That’s most probably just for Yale, so I think you’ll be fine submitting a credit card payment for Harvard :)

No, that notice comes with every payment you submit on the commonapp, including Harvard. But just go ahead and pay by credit card, I have never heard of them sending back anyone’s payment because it got processed late, so they must be accepting them. ;)
