UM vs. UF for pre-med

Hi! I am a current high school senior who was accepted into UM and UF as part of the Class of 2024. I am having trouble deciding between UF Honors and UM honors.

I live in Miami, and my parents are really pushing me to commit to UM. I received the Isaac Bashevis Singer Scholarship which is a full ride to the University as well as admission into their Honors Program. I am very honored, but I did want to have a chance to go away for undergrad. The financial package they are offering me, however, makes my decision difficult. I plan on majoring in biochemistry or biomedical engineering.

On the other hand, I was accepted into the Honors Program at UF. I have Florida Bright Futures, but I would need to pay for housing and living costs. I have heard that their programs and connections are better, but that class size limits interaction with professors. Also, I have heard that many classes are online?

Please help! I do not know which to pick. I need advice about the pros and cons of both.

It is like Cypress Bay vs. Pinecrest (or Ransom, or American Heritage)

If financial part is taken care of, which is your case with Singer at UM, i would go to UM. Better student attention. More personal attention.

Over all student quality, honestly, is the same.

I went to UF, teach at UM, I can’t really voucher UF over UM.

If you don’t have Singer, then I would say take Benaquisto at UF. But with Singer, I hope you stay at UM.

Better attention counseling over all at UM over UF.
