@Cjs1058 Still waiting. SPIRE still under review.
My D applied 10/30 and has not heard anything… Really kind of crazy at this point.
Does anybody have any idea of approximately how many applications they receive? I would be curious to know that number vs. other “large” schools that have wrapped up the EA process. Of course it has no bearing on anything but I am curious to know how this situation compares.
@ifrydr It is a record number according to their main admissions page update, but we are still in the originally predicted notification period. It is hard to wait, but I don’t see anything unusual about the situation. It is playing out just like the process for another school my son applied to that released decisions over a six week period. I figure there must so many applications that many random applications at the bottom of the pile have probably not even been looked at. Others have been set aside for acceptance, rejection or possible deferral once they take a look at the whole pool. At this point, still being in the system seems better than an early rejection or deferral.
@crowlady Would that be Univ Wisconsin - Madison by any chance? We are still waiting for that school plus UMass Amherst too. Getting close, and nervous that there are SOOO many applications. My D is on the border-line for each school.
@3mamagirls No, it was Tulane, and we were lucky to have gotten word two weeks before the end of the waiting period. But everybody who didn’t hear until the last week was tearing their hair out – that’s when all the deferrals came out but there were still acceptances as well. Hoping the same will be true for U Mass.
Hopefully this month!
I believe that majority of them would be deferral / rejection . How can they be so cruel to leave this at the very last minute. It just crushed my heart
The thing that kills me is that I actually talked her into applying and sold her on the school as we know someone that attends (we are OOS). She has actually already been accepted to two other schools that I would deem much more selective and one State School… Oh well, hurry up and wait some more.
I think I may care way more than she does…
Does UMass tend to defer strong apps just because they don’t have time to review all apps by mid-January? I have yet to receive an acceptance letter from a single college, so I’m hoping at least UMass will accept me.
Same here.
I applied to four schools under EA. I got admission into all the schools so far.
Only UMass Amherst is taking quite some time in sending the letter.
Does anyone have a fair idea as to when the results are out? Kind of bummed out here. >.<
@megs98 Congratulations! Which other schools did you get into?
Has anybody here heard since Christmas? It seems like the notifications might have slowed down this week.
@JamieH Umass has said nothing else yet. Only students who applied to the honors college got their decisions already. As for the rest of us, we are in the dark as of right now
@Cjs1058 there is no separate app for the honors college; they automatically consider you if your stats are high enough. I don’t think they do stronger apps first either since my stats are above the 75th percentile and I think my essay was solid, but I still have no decision.
^^ And some people have been denied already. It seems to be random at the moment.
I got accepted the 28th on spire
I called the admissions office today for some general questions and she stated that additional acceptances will be going out very shortly. Probably took off from winter break and i would suspect that means today. My son has applied to ten schools and was accepted to all but UMass (still under review), -his grades and tests are pretty strong. They are just slow… I hate the anticipation more than he does.
@cogman Thank you for the update. As I mentioned earlier I am in the same boat as you, this is bothering me WAY more than it is bothering my D. I just feel like an early application with very good stats should have elicited a quicker response, but that is clearly not how this whole process works…
@cogman Which schools did your son got accepted already?
accepted at UVM, Umaine, UNH, Saint Mikes, Transylvania, Rutgers, Loyola Maryland, waitlisted at tulane.
