@ifrydr If this were a rolling admissions school, it might work that way, but it isn’t. Hope @cogman is right and that decisions resume today!
@cogman Just on your side for your son to get in, so I just want to suggest that you do not share your name when calling Admissions. They do not like parents calling. It would be ok for your son to call, but not you. They understandably view parents calling as 'helicopter parenting". I’m sure you already know that and did not use your name and used *67 so that they could not see who was calling. It’s hard for our kids to call during the day, so I get why you called, I just don’t want it to potentially work against you. I they all hear soon. My son got into several other schools too, but we are certainly waiting for UMASS Amherst’s response. Good luck everyone!
Meant to say I HOPE they all hear soon!
Is January 15th the deadline for all early action applicants to be notified?
@Lindyy80 I think I heard that some people last year continued to get notified into late Jan or early Feb. Hopefully that doesn’t happen again this year.
@JamieH Where did you hear that? I can’t find the EA thread from last year.
This is what the admin website says
“After receiving a record number of applications, UMass Amherst began mailing Early Action decisions on Wednesday, December 16th. Decisions on complete EA applications will continue to be mailed through late-January. We encourage you to log into your SPIRE account to check the status of your application, which is updated once daily.”
Thanks for the info.Well aware, just called for a general question, obviously no personal info given. In fact she was the the that told me about a batch of acceptances world be going out soon
Will keep fingers crossed for your son. Where else did he apply?
Applied EA for the Nursing Program at UMASS Amherst, I still haven’t gotten anything back yet. Extremely worried that I might’ve been deferred or declined… Good luck to all!
I’m in the same position. Very frustrating. Good luck to you too. @BananaEater
Do new students have to go to both the summer NSO and the fall NSO?
Does anyone else’s spire account for the transcript say it has been received but the type is “in progress”?
@Cjs1058 yes! everyone who hasn’t graduated high school’s should say that. It means you haven’t finished all those classes yet.
This so frustrating!! No decisions yet… sigh
Regarding summer NSO and fall NSO. Yes, you do both. Summer NSO is overnight, and that is where you select
your classes for the fall. Fall NSO happens when you move in to your dorm. No special trip to UMass for that, you are already there! My son is a freshman at UMass now. Feel free to ask if you have more questions.
Thanks for answering my question! But do you know if you have to pay for both of them and how much they would cost?
Did your son get a good financial aid package?
@have3boys
accepted today for animal science and invitation to honors college
@alexandrasara on spire or in the mail?
