UMass Amherst Class of 2025 Early Action

She was also accepted to Worcester State (which obviously would have been more affordable), but didn’t think the campus was a good fit for her. And she was deferred from Northeastern University but decided to pull her application after receiving such a good offer from Fairfield. She knows many students now at Fairfield that were deferred from Northeastern EA nursing that were later accepted, but would have been required to study abroad the very first semester.

rejected for nursing

Awesome! Does that make Pitt comparable in price to UMA for you? The lowest cost option my son has so far is URI.

Yes it is the same she got into Honors at Umass but still waiting to hear about Honors from UPitt.

Son, in state, only has Adam’s scholarship of $1,700/yr that is state MCAS score driven. Nothing specifically from UMass.

Thank you for the response! Do you mind if I message you for a bit more information about some of those schools? I just got deferred from Northeastern yesterday— debating whether to keep my application in or not.

I’d be happy to help you any way that I can. I know how overwhelming the whole process can be!

In state, got 2k as well and honors college for.biology

My son got CHC for bio as well. We will see! Thanks for sharing. I’m just trying to gauge if it was possible to get more for an in state student. Doesn’t seem that way.

yes - she will also get the Adams Scholarship which I believe is $1714.

Is there a preference for instate students when choosing admittance for the CHC? I am noticing a lot of students in state got accepted but not many OOS. Of course, MA certainly has an excellent educational system so that could be the reason. Just wondering if you or anyone else noticed that!

I didn’t notice that but wasn’t looking for it.

Where did you guys see the admissions data about how many applied? Any idea what the data was like last year?

A quick google search or 2020-2021 and 2020-2019 admission statistics for UMass Amherst will probably do it.

This data is available for all colleges from their published common data sets (Google “name of school” and the words “common data set”) but it’s based on the previous year. Sometimes the schools post on their social media what the current stats are.

Thank you very much.

Anyone else apply EA but not receive a decision yet? I understand they are releasing them in batches but my midterm grades have been released and I’m not sure when they will release more batches.

For those of you who got the $2000 merit in state, were your kids accepted to honors college? My daughter was accepted but no honors college and no $2K. She is eligible for I think it’s called Plotkin but that comes out in the summer. Just wondering if it’s worth asking for the 2K. Thanks!

Are you sure you applied by Nov 5?

Yes accepted to honors college. I think you mean Koplik? That is approx $1714/year. The Adams scholarship (also $1714) and Koplik are both based on MCAS scores and you can only use one or the other not both. The Koplik one you have to jump through a few additional hoops though so if you qualify for Adams it’s easier to just do that.
