UMass Amherst vs. Villanova Nursing

Hi everybody!! I’m currently in a huge dilemma. I got into Umass Amherst with Honors College for nursing as well as Nova for nursing. I like nova better, however the price difference between the two is about 40k a year. Thoughts on which one is better or if the cost difference is worth going to the more expensive/less expensive school? Thanks!

Unless that 40 k each year is pocket change for your family, go to U Mass Amherst, and take advantage of everything the Honors College has to offer you.

Honors college has amazing dorms and great location on campus and Amherst is a great college town. $160K difference is like $250K pre tax. This is a very easy decision. Not sure I understand the great dilemma here.

UMass. That is a crazy idea to spend an extra 160k to become a nurse. Just crazy. You’d never earn that back. UMass is a great school with an awesome Honors College.

Having the debt may limit work options later. What if you love something that is lower paying but can’t afford to do it because of student loan payments? I’d go to UMass.

UMass! Congratulations on getting in to the nursing program – it’s extremely selective. Be proud that you’re one of the few admitted, and enjoy the lack of debt (or extra savings if the funds are indeed available).

Umass

If OP is a Massachusetts resident, she might feel a stigma about UMASS, but should not feel that way about nursing program or Commonwealth Honors College. Both are tough to get into. Hopefully, she can get past that. The Honors College does have amazing dorms which make day to day campus life very nice. This is a no brainer.

I literally am in the same predicament regard Villanova nursing vs umass amherst nursing and I just found out my fam could afford it either way today…sos

If the money is equal Villanova will be a different experience and More prestigious I believe However UMass Amherst is really great. Super research and professors and really a lot of fun. In the end I would probably advise my daughter to go to Villanova in this situation. But that means absolutrly nothing in reality as it is complicated mix of experience and opinion.

officially decided on umass amherst!! thanks for the advice everybody!

Awesome! you’ll love it!!! Best undergrad dining in US. So you’ll have good food to power you for the studying

Congratulations!!!
