Umass and Criminal Justice

I am going into my senior year of high school and looking at many schools. I have a 4.6 out of 5.3 GPA and Umass has really caught my eye for many reasons. The only problem is Umass doesn't have the Criminal Justice major that I wished to study so my question is do you guys think majors like Sociology, Legal Studies or Political Science would be a substitute or similar enough to Criminal Justice for me? I am interested in those majors, I'm just looking for some opinions!!!
Thanks!

UMass has a Criminal Justice concentration within the Sociology department, perhaps that will fill your requirements:

My daughter’s boyfriend went to UMass with the hope of majoring in criminal justice. He took the sociology courses with the criminal justice bend to them but didn’t find that they were quite what he was looking for. He transferred to Northeastern for sophomore year. He really enjoyed the school and really really enjoyed the cost but thought the program was lacking.

Thank you both! That was very helpful. When your daughters boyfriend transferred did he say what he didn’t like about the Umass program? Was it something specific?
Thanks for the help!

He thought there was too much sociology and not enough concentration on the criminal justice aspect. He did however love the overall atmosphere of the school.
