Umass Lowell or San Jose State

I need to make a decision regarding the 2 schools and i can’t decide. I was wondering which one you guys would chose and why.
Umass would be 10k more than SJSU but when i visited i could picture myself there but i have no family over there and the cost is more. vs SJSU is in state and cheap.
I would be going to both for chemical engineering.

Net price at each? How much debt (if any) at each? Intended major and major admitted to at each?

@ucbalumnus UML net is 26k and SJSU net is 24k the debt with other scholarships and i am planning to get a job should be no more than 8k a year. My admitted major and planed major is Chemical Engineering.

Lowell has always been a super engineering school. It’s a focus and part of its history. The school does have a good hockey team too which is fun. Winters are pretty harsh. Not Maine or Alaska. But it’s cold and snowy.
I don’t know SJSU. Other than it has a nice reputation.

One is newish big city, boring, good weather, urban, one is more old city rural. Do you have a preference?

@ProfessorPlum168 no not really

I would just stay instate then.

Lowell is not rural. It has about 100k people and is only 30 miles out of Boston. It is an old mill city. I don’t know the area around the school so can’t comment more than that.

Do you have housing at SJSU?

There is nothing rural about UMass Lowell

I consider anything outside of the 95 circumferential to Boston to be “rural” although that’s probably not the right term to use. I don’t think suburb is the right term either.
