UMass math placement test

Does anyone know where there are any preparation materials or a sample test? The web site says the test “covers the basics of algebra, coordinate geometry, and trigonometry,” which isn’t too broad, but it doesn’t say much about the format. Is it word problems? Just calculations? Why are there two parts?

This is just a simple test to get an simple aptitude assessment. This test will not hinder you from signing up for classes. I believe that it is just used by your adviser to get an idea of a student’s skills in math so that they can make suggestions for classes.

I wouldn’t do special preparation for it. The idea is to be placed into an appropriate level. I remember cramming and placing out of certain math and foreign language requirements as a freshman and bumped into the next higher class and it was the worst thing that ever happened. I was a borderline case in each instance. The higher classes were way too hard for me and it was miserable. So just go with what it tells you to take.

Very basic material. All your other prep (SAT, ACT, etc) should be more than adequate.
