UMD co op

So I was accepted into UMD engineering and I’m pretty sure I will be attending in the fall, however something that I noticed is that the school of engineering offers a Co op program. Does anybody have any input as to how good it is (placement wise, and job quality wise) ? Also, would doing Co ops affect graduation? Thanks

Bump!!!

Anyone???

Looks like not many people at UMD do coop.

True…as far as I know most do internships. Coop usually means a whole semester of no classes and therefore it takes longer to get your degree, so yes it would affect timing of graduation. Internships (most are during the summer) mean no break in classes so u typically graduate in 4 years/8 semesters as scheduled and still get a paid job/work experience over the summer.

Many internships are unpaid, coops are usually paid, almost always paid in engineering.

My son’s internships have all been paid, as have his friends…he’s MechE and has friends in various engineering disciplines…
