So I wanted to stop by and talk to a couple people in the administrative office (Clark School) and accidentally stumbled into an admissions meeting. They are still going over direct admits to engineering and I have no reason to believe other LEPs are further along. Just an FYI for those who think the decisions are all finalized. That said, people being discussed first had to get through the Mitchell building, so they’re all at least accepted to UMD.
@da6onet Are you sure? Do admissions to the school and admissions to LEPs usually go out on the same day?
I guess if I don’t see housing, I didn’t get admitted. Ouch!
“accidentally stumbled into an admissions meeting” yeah right.
That wouldn’t even make sense. Decisions have clearly already been made based on the instagram post, they were just mailing it. Plus it’s way too close to the deadline to be making decisions still
Plus don’t you apply to LEP later on in college?
@roasted36 The decisions may go out the same day, but general admissions and LEP decisions are made by completely separate groups, the former being made up of Mitchell building pee-ons.
@kennie2015 That isn’t to say all general admissions decisions are done, they very well could have just prioritized the LEP students because they go through another tier.
@flinque The JMP offices are along the walls with the conference table in the center. You can’t get to someone’s office without walking around it.
Engineering is LEP at UMD CP right? Is the admission to UMD a superset of admission to LEP? Does one apply to LEP later or is the admission decision inclusive of having being considered to the LEP of your choice?
@da6onet “pee-ons”?
@roasted36 I don’t like the undergraduate admissions office.
@da6onet Why not?
@roasted36 They don’t have the brainpower or willpower to handle edges cases.
@da6onet
What do you mean?
The anticipation is getting to me; I got a Facebook notification and I almost jumped out of my skin thinking it was an email from UMD.
I know I shouldn’t get my hopes up that decisions are coming out. But, I like a couple others here who posted don’t have a housing thing but I do have an LEP(?) thing. Is it possible that if housing is an indicator so is the LEP thing? I honestly don’t remember if it was there in the past or not. Im on mobile too. Sorry for rambling…
Yep, no decisions today, almost 5 pm
5:00 no decision…well see you guys tomorrow!
So what are the odds it’s tomorrow?
