the AAp/STP is kinda complicated and annoying. I was rejected from even getting in the program eventually (weak grades which makes no sense because why would they consider me in the first place), but most people I know who were in it got in (about 4), and eventually got into UMD as long as they put in effort. If you want more detailed info lmk because it’s pretty annoying and I wanted someone to explain it to me. If you want a more general view of whats most likely going to happen lmk.
Guys, what’s the honors college? It says I got accepted into that and how is that different from the regular school?
My daughter got accepted into CIVICUS also, any comments about the program good or bad. we know nothing about it

Question about the housing agreement: Do you fill it out now even if you are not sure that you will enroll or only if you plan to enroll. The instructions are somewhat confusing.

What the heck is the housing link thing?
Can someone explain the freshman connect to me? I got in for spring but feel ready for college now and don’t want to wait an extra semester.
I don’t know much about it except that we got into it because of the amount of community service we have done and the dorm we get to live in is AMAZING. We get to live in Somerset Hall which has A/C, elevators (3 floors), laundry, in the middle of campus, etc. We have to do 4 community service projects per semester and it is a two-year program. I researched all of this in like an hour so hopefully I’m relaying the right info. Here’s the CIVICUS home page in case you haven’t seen it yet: http://www.civicus.umd.edu/home.htm
Tell her congratulations!
Just wanted to thank everyone that kept us updating during the long, torturous wait before decisions were released. This was by far the best forum I have been in. Thank you everyone!
For people who got straight up rejected (not FC, not spring) what do you have to do to apply as a transfer for the springsemester (or can you?)? Do you have to resubmit all of your SAT/ACT even though they already have them from your initial application?
3.83 WGPA/5.0 2180/2400, 1450/1600 (740 CR+ 710 M) applied for engineering-undecided
admitted for letters and sciences, as well as global communities. congratulations to all who got in. sorry if you didn’t get in. good luck to future applicants!
Can anyone tell me what exactly a LEP is? Did you apply separately for it?
As I see it freshman connection is a way for UMD to manage all of the students they want to accept. In order to accommodate everyone they accept some individuals into freshman connections which means that class selection is limited to specific hours, I think after 3 PM. I believe next year freshman connection admits will live on campus just like everyone else so really the main difference is the class times. After fall you are no longer restricted to specific class times.
Can someone explain Honors college to me? I know in some colleges the people in honors programs can register first, and they can choose good dorms, etc. Is UMD Honors program like that?
@adominic8 Freshman connection is the substitute for being admitted for the fall semester. Although you aren’t an official student in the fall, you can do FC and take classes specifically designated for FC (after 3, not as many choices as a regular student). This year, FC students are guaranteed housing, which is good. I just finished FC, if you have any questions.
3pm-9pm
Were you able to rake all the classes you wanted to take?
@Audqueen if you were asking me, I believe so. I had to rearrange some classes though. Having essentially 4 blocks to take classes limits your scheduling/classes you can take. I couldn’t take math because it was during one of my other classes.
If someone says they were admitted for Spring, does that mean Freshman Connection, or are some admitted a semester late without FC?
