UMD PRIORITY DECISION CLASS OF 2019

From maryversity last year:

“What I imagine happens is that since the hard copy for mailing is likely being printed out and getting ready for U.S. postal mail, that’s what gives “insiders” the impression that decisions are going out. The fact is that they do have to mail the hard copies before they shoot out the emails/update the portals to time their arrival close together. When you start seeing people posting “omg, I noticed a change in my portal - there’s now a link for housing” THEN you can excited because for the past two years that happened THE DAY BEFORE emails informing you to check your portal for decision. If you have a link to housing, does that mean you are accepted? No, it’s a glitch, so don’t get your hopes up in that regard either. Just know that if that link thing happens, the decisions will likely come out the next day via email. Hang in there, everyone, and best of luck!”

I’m in class right now. Me and one of my friends have the housing thing on our portal, but one friend doesn’t…

what does it mean if you don’t have it?

Apparently it might be just a glitch. I don’t know much so take everything I say with a grain of salt, but either it’s a totally random glitch random applicants experience…or, only the accepted applicants receive that glitch

@shell765 Maryversity said to think nothing of it last year!

i am freaking out

Don’t freak out if you don’t have it! People with the form were accepted; people with the form were denied; people without the forum were accepted; people without the forum were denied.

do you think we will hear back today?

Yeah, one of the girls I know who has the housing thing on their portal got like a 900 R + M on their SAT and a mediocre GPA. I wouldn’t assume they got in

Would the release decisions today or on a Saturday?

They more than likely wouldn’t release on a Saturday.

does anyone else have extreme anxiety?

Yes. Very.

@maryversity posted this on the 7th of Jan in this thread:

"No. Not any day. The very, very end of the month. The earliest has been the 28th, if I recall correctly. They usually mean on Jan 31.

Everyone finds out on the same day. Every year there are rumors of the decisions coming out early. Someone knows someone in administration yada, yada, yada and gets everyone hyped. Do yourself a favor. Don’t buy into it.

The only reliable indicator I know of is there is a “glitch” that SOME people will note in their accounts whereby a link for housing will appear a day before decisions are released, and I cannot tell you whether or not that glitch has been resolved or not for this year.

Having said all that, given the title chosen for this thread, I would like to suggest preserving this for the actual decisions and not general discussion…? Three weeks… hang in there, and best of luck to all."

I found it but I’m sure it doesn’t mean much hopefully it will come out monday

I have one I’m freaking out

Yeah, the housing application is on mine as well. Huh.

I’m betting they will release on tuesday. Since they’ve released on tuesdays for past 3 years

@umdterp2019 don’t steal my joke i was here first

I have one too!! I think last year decisions came out on the same day that people started noticing the glitch, right? Obviously I haven’t learned from the January 20th debacle because I’m getting my hopes up again. This is going to be a long four hours…

Also, one of my friends doesn’t have the housing app on their portal, but I’m almost certain they got in (sal at a neighboring high school, instate, great ECs/SATs, etc great applicant all around). Obviously admissions is a holistic process and there’s a chance that they didn’t buuuuut hopefully that little anecdote will allay the fears of some people who don’t have the app. Like @siewamo and @Vctory said, it really doesn’t mean anything.
