Umiami

its pretty standard questions, why u want to be a doctor, info about your school, extracurriculars, interests, etc. I imagined it would be really formal and kinda nerve-racking but it was 100% the opposite.

My son is flying from NJ for the interview. Does any one know what is the acceptance rate for out of state applicants.

i dont know what the acceptance rate for out of staters is...
BUT, i'm almost positive that 97% of their med skool is instate residents... meaning, that if ur an outofstater from jersey... ur chances are slim, not impossible, but still..

best of luckk...

well 230 applied, 120 were chosen for an interview, and they will select 25-30

:( that's it? I thought about 25-30 actually matriculate, and they choose more than enough, like 50

do you mind answering whether they asked any of those questions about current trends in medicine, etc.

Last year, about 20 matriculated so I'm guessing the acceptance rate is a bit higher.

This year the program is changed from 6/7 years to 7/8 years. Do you think they likely to have different applicant pool this year.

Probably changed a bit, but not too much IMO. If someone wants to go to UMiami, they'll apply anyways. There's no med program like it in FL that's open for out-of-state people.

How many ppl interview you
How medical related questions?

im going for an interview this tuesday, feb 22. who else will be there?

I will be there Tuesday the 22nd in the afternoon. My email says that I am scheduled for 2:30 PM. Is the the time I show up, or is there an information session or tour form 1-4 PM. Is ther an actual program and day scheduled, or just come in an interview at 2:30 and go?

I go to a school in South Florida, and I know 4 people who were very interested in Miami's program, but when we heard about the change- only one of us ended up applying to UMs program. UMs program was my second choice, and I didn't even apply so I definitely think the applicant pool has changed.

My son's interview is tomorrow (2/22 at 1:45). The interview is for 30 minutes. There is no info sessions or tours.

Wow really. I have 2:30 tmro. I guess that is just the time to show up then. I wonder if there is a way to schedule a tour or information session. It would be nice to see the hospital.

so how'd everyone's interview go? I think mine went ok...my interviewer seemed sort of dazed and didn't really follow up with the questions, so I ended up doing most of the talking. I really hope I get in, but the competition seems incredibly tough...can't wait 'till April!

When do people know if they are rejected and will not get an interview?

the last interview was on feb 24th...so by now u prob were rejected

my interview went pretty well, im still not sure of my chances though. Isnt there only a 1/6 chance for the interviewees? Do they only consider the interview at this point, or do stats and all that stuff still matter? How were everyone else's interviews?
