Hey everyone,

I had my mind set on Amherst College ... until I received a notification from UMich that not only had I been accepted into the Honors Program, but I have been rewarded $5,000 per academic year in merit scholarship. This amount, subtracted from the already cheaper UMich tuition (although I am OOS), suggests that I will be paying approx. $20,000 a year in tuition fees at Michigan. Now I'm having second thoughts on my college choice!

What do you guys think? Can I receive an education at UMich that is on par with what I would get at Amherst? Can UMich provide an equally intellectually stimulating environment that I was hoping to discover at Amherst? Will UMich take care of me the way a small liberal arts school can? I have fallen in love with the small, close-knit community of Amherst, where it is easy to get to know my undergraduate-focused professors. Yet UMich is a fantastic school as well, and its size and location might suggest more readily available opportunities (?).

Also, how might such a decision sway my future career/job opportunities/graduate school admissions? I am possibly considering law school.

I'd appreciate any input! Thanks!
