Hello everybody! Okay, so I was accepted into University of Michigan’s and Boston University’s BFA Acting programs. I love both of these programs for very different reasons and could honestly see myself going to both. Because of financial aid, neither is an issue financially. I just wanted to get some feedback from you all and see what you would do if you were in my position?
Both are very well respected, excellent schools- so the good news is you can’t go wrong! But I would say that Boston has a world famous acting program, while Michigan is more well known for their MT program. (Which is not to say acting wouldn’t be great there)
Actordude - Congratulations and good luck. I know a bit about the program at Michigan. My son graduated from that program last Spring. Send me a PM if you have any specific questions.
^^And my son is a sophomore Acting major at BU, so you can PM me the BU questions! Congrats (are you into hockey, if so, BU just made the Frozen Four! Go Terriers!).
Tough choice but you can’t go wrong with either. My son is a freshman BFA student at Michigan and loves it. Excellent faculty, small class with lots of opportunities to act. He also loves to sing and dance and is able to take the classes with those majors as well. They do a lot of “experimental” theatre that is cutting edges. Are you able to go to the admitted student days at both campuses? At UM you attend classes and meet the current students. Good luck!
Spending time at both schools and talking to current students is highly advisable.
If you are an admitted student at the BU SOT, you can arrange to visit and shadow a freshman student on any day that is convenient to you. That is the only way my son was able to choose between BU and another BFA program. (He chose BU!)
