UMich vs. Northwestern vs. UCB vs. UCLA

I'm basically looking at these four schools right now. How would they rank amongst each other? I'm thinking about going into Patent Law (probably cs double major) or EECS. Any recommendations on which career would be better paying? Are there any other schools for these 2 majors that I should consider? I'm in Cali.

Thanks!

uc berkeley

patent law isn't an undergrad major...

Patent Law probably pays more than engineering, but an EECS degree will make you a better patent lawyer. Major in EECS or CS if that's your interest and then go to law school.

As for the other question, Berkeley and Michigan both have better engineering departments research-wise than Northwestern, but Northwestern is a great place to learn and it is more prestigious overall (if that's important to you.)

In terms of academic excellence, all 4 are roughly equal. For EE and CS, Cal is the best, but Michigan is not far behind. NU and UCLA are also good. In terms of prestige, Cal is the most prestigious, but Michigan, NU and UCLA aren't far behind. Each of those universities has a distinct atmosphere and culture. I recommend you visit all 4 campuses and decide once you know which campus suits you best.

Ah, thanks for the responses!

I'm already planning to visit each campus over the summer
