UMich vs. UGA

I recently received an acceptance letter from the University of Michigan. I was ecstatic. It is my dream school. I love the academics, the location, everything about it–except the price. The tuition alone exceeds 40k, and although my parents are able to provide for some of the costs, I would still leave with debt. I was also accepted into the University of Georgia a while ago. I also like this school just not to the extent of Michigan, but Georgia did give me a scholarship which would allow me to attend without worrying financially. I would be an OOS for both.

So here’s my dilemma. I want to study Art and Biology and eventually hope to attend Medical school-most likely for primary care. My problem is that while Georgia is a strong school, I haven’t heard too much about their science programs. And I worry that because they’re not large in the medical field (considering they don’t have a medical school) I would miss some of the opportunities that would be found in other places. Have you heard much about UGA’s biology major?

I guess I also wonder that if I were to do well at UGA and get a strong MCAT score would I still be able to attend more prestigious medical schools? (Such as Michigan or John Hopkins or UCSF) I’ve heard Undergraduate school doesn’t always matter when applying for graduate, but I feel that having limited opportunities could make success more difficult.
