UMichigan Ann Arbor EA Class of 2021 Applicants

@as1799, pshh that’s cute. I have had a countdown for the last 42 days! I have been anxious for a while now.

just found a typo :((

Does anyone know where on the portal the decision will be found?

@enginero when you click on your application status there will be a decision button that you click on.

@Eeeee127 great thanks! Will I only see that once the decisions are released or should I be able to see the link now?

@enginero you have to wait until decisions are released which would either be this friday (don’t count on it though) or next friday.

You’ll only see the button if it’s admit or deny, if you’re deferred you’ll just get an email.

I really should be studying for my chemistry exam but instead I’m just sitting in my dorm reminiscing about when I was on this thread last year. Procrastination is still a huge issue for me lol.

Thank you for your help! @Eeeee127 @whizkid98

@binky17 Thanks. That’s what I’m hoping. Funny, I have been trying to keep my kid calm about this whole journey and that email sort of threw me. Maybe they just want to be proactive and explain the process to minimize questions afterward. Who knows? In any event , good luck to all!

@uofm83 what email is this? I never received an email.

To legacy applicants, a generic email thanking us for having our relative apply and explaining the admissions process , with a link to FAQ’s. Nothing really new or enlightening

@whizkid98 @enginero They changed the policy this year, you will see the decision for defer also this year on your portal. https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2082/~/how-will-i-be-notified-of-my-admission-decision%3F

@Eeeee127 Wow, I would’ve liked that last year. That also reminds me, Michigan seems to send out about 3 different deferral emails every year, and everyone here speculates about what they could mean. I just want to say now that there doesn’t appear to be any correlation between deferral letter received and acceptances, before people start wondering about it.

That 42.4% figure being thrown around in the thread a few pages ago was not strictly referring to in-state EA acceptance rate. That figure was the total in-state acceptance rate. (I’m only clarifying because a couple people responded to a question about “What’s the EA acceptance rate for In-State students?” with that out-of-place statistic)

yeah the in state 42.4% and out of state 24.5% are OVERALL acceptance rates, not early action acceptance rates. early action acceptance data is not available.

Do we think EA in state acceptance rates are higher than that?

@nasoth it sounds like that is not the case ha

idk most in state applicants prob apply early action but idk if that lowers or raises the early action acceptance rate for in state.

When people say that decisions come out around 3 or 4 (whichever day it is), that means in Michigan’s time zone, right?
