I didn’t explicitly say that because I didn’t want to sound desperate but this was the exact line that they read that demonstrates my level of interest. “With the degree of freedom and the intellectual challenges that The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor can provide for me, I feel as if there is no better place for me to attend.”
i think community essay is to see where you would belong on campus cuz umich has over 1,000 student organizations
@Eeeee127 I dont think they want to just hear that. They’d rather you show/said why than just tell. @kl1211 I didn’t, I just wrote what I wanted. But in my communities one I sort of said how the community I picked would help me in college.
Did i talk too much about it…i talked about UM in all 3 at some point
@jasonfan1234 I’m sure a 100 word essay is there for a reason
in my why umich essay is it ok if i just said michigan instead of spelling out university of michigan since it uses up word count? will it make me seem too casual?
I didn’t mention UM in the community or activities essay, but I gushed about it in the why essay
i think that’s fine, even UMichigan is probably acceptable
idk if i gushed enough in the why umich essay but i provided many specific examples of what i was going to do like classes, professors, research projects, mlcs, etc.
@Eeeee127 I did the same thing after saying “the University of Michigan” a couple of times
I wasn’t super formal in mine at all! They want to see your personality, you should be fine.
the thing is i never used the university of michigan in my essay, i always used michigan.
@uofm83 I suspect they send it to everyone, whether admitted, deferred or denied. I do think it is a way to soften the blow, but in a blanketed way, not directed. Just a guess.
anyone mention the researchMatch program?
never mind that’s probably only chemistry
aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
no whats that? i talked about the traditional urop.
I mentioned UROP, idk if those are related or anything. Also @Eeeee127 I think you’ll be fine if the rest of the essay was good.
I didn’t really talk about my specific major that much cuz i actually had multiple related fields of interest on my common app like biology, microbiology, cellular and molecular biology, etc, so i just talked about overall what lsa could offer me, but I also talked about stuff not exclusive to lsa like the urop and global scholars program so i hope thats ok
I specified some LSA stuff like the opportunity hub, and my last sentence directly said “the university of Michigan’s LSA program…”
