I don’t know the official stats but I know of 3 out of state students (one being my daughter) that were deferred in first wave and accepted 2nd wave (believe that was jan 30th or feb 1st last year). You should advocate for yourself with your area admissions rep if you are deferred. There is definitely hope!! She loves attending Michigan! GO BLUE!
@colie4654 No, that won’t happen
They aren’t coming out today and there is no point in stressing out about it for the next week.
Lsa admits a lot of students because they receive the most applications
Anyone that thinks they’re coming out today needs to think about this: Why would they put in overtime and work on a Saturday to update the portal with our decisions when they can just come to work on Monday (like they’re supposed to) and then do the same thing?
The decisions will not be coming out during the weekend when they have 3 days during the week to send them out.
But just before somene wrote that chinese students got thr mail on sunday morning
How did out of state ppl get into umich early action last year with a 27 ACT?
Last year it came out on 19th december. It was a saturday…
Today is also saturday… so we may expect
No last year they started coming out on rhe 18th
See the 927 post…it was 19th dec some 1.something am when the results came out
In that thread also u can see similarly ppl saying it will.come on tiesday
…
But it came on 19th
oMg you guys I just read through the 12/18 thread from.last year… =))
Gotta say they crack me up…they crashed the portal.
Everybody is freaking out.
Guess every year its the thing to do…someone wrote UMich destroying kids Christmas since 3pm today, that one really got me! :))
I have nothing better to do…really hope some or all start rolling out Monday.
Would be great wouldn’t it?
My friends received their acceptances on dec 18 last year
@USUG21 If you are from India, it might be a timezone difference that makes you think decisions came out on Saturday in the 2020 thread. Here is US people got decisions on Friday the 18th.
Started on page 60 and seriously kids are looking it…
Yup, last year and every year before that in recent times, they came out on a Friday. Last year was Friday the 18th, regardless of what anyone said earlier in this thread. But my question still remains, why would they work extra-hard and rush these decisions out on a Saturday when they have Mon-Wed to do it? They won’t.
The reason might be because they release in batches, meaning some people (more than likely randomly selected) will get their decision at a certain date and time while others get it on a different date and time. If they start releasing sooner, they have more time to spread out batches. That means they won’t be crammed to type in all the decisions all at once and have more time to do so overall. It would be beneficial to both the admissions council and the applicants.
@UofMichigan1999 While I’m not sure it would be difficult for them to get 30k (or however many there are) decisions out in a 3-day span of Mon-Wed, that reasoning does make sense. If they personally feel those 3 days are not enough, then my original point is invalid. I was going off the impression that they would not be in a position where they would have to worry about cramming, since the Office of Admissions still seems to have unwavering confidence they’ll be out before the 24th.
@jt1216 the reason they spread out decisions like they do is to make sure website doesn’t crash. only three days of releasing decisions would mean releasing probably around 10,000 per day, which is an absurd amount of decisions. i think they want more room than that. From what i’ve seen, they like releasing them over a week’s time for that reason.
