Only 175 international students were admitted to US Med school. However, the number applicants are small as well, so for those applied about 13% of them are accepted. You may get a better chances with newer med schools, Florida International, for example. That school may cost upwards of $500K to $1M to attend.

US med schools are very expensive for internationals, because I don’t know the student loan program will be available to them and forget about the In State low costs. So lets say you go to Brown UG and paying full freight. You need to prepare close to $1 Million in cash to get a MD degree, if everything is accounted for.

If you are really set on engineering, U Michigan is the best. However, most undergrads change their majors a few times. That said, I would look at Brown or Wash U. All of this is assuming $$ is not a factor. If it is, then I would hit the least expensive of the three. As far as engineering goes, most rankings are based on grad programs. And most schools in the top 100 engineering programs will all provide solid training so Brown and Wash U shouldn’t hold you back.

One more point to consider, Brown and Wash U will give you a bit more of a well rounded education than UM, and a little bit less of an engineering education.

I would strongly encourage visiting each one. I was continually surprised by the reactions my three kids had to the schools they visited. Some we all had high on the list, they ended up hating. Some we though were lower down, they ended up loving.
