How many forms do we have to send in with our deposit along with your check/money order? I only have one form, which I have to send back to the Office of Admissions, with the option of attending, rejecting and listing the school I will be attending, and an option to request for a financial aid application.

After that one form , you should get a package containing orientation dates, courses for fall etc.

Neal540,
Are all the med students in Honors housing ? Or is that different ? I was wondering if all the med students are together ? I read about the Living Learning Community(LLC) in the housing contract & do not see anything for Med students.

I was wondering what it takes to be considered a resident of missouri

Satkid11, when I visited the undergrad campus. I was told that all med students live together in the Oak street dorms on on floor.

you all live in the oak street dorms, not necessarily the honors dorms. and it varies, not everyone is on the same floor.

Satkid11: the med students aren't all moved to the same floor until summer semester. until then, you can request living in the honors section of oak street dorms if you prefer much more quiet living quarters with less traffic (not that the rest of oak street dorms is usually very noisy--keep in mind that umkc is mainly a commuter campus and most of your classmates will go home for the weekends)

Kian: I would speak with Ms. Morgenegg about what it takes to be a resident of Missouri. I believe it involves proof of paying taxes in Missouri or something.

I just attended orientation last weekend and signed up for just 20 credit hours (everything that was recommended on the sheet they gave me) of classes because I got so much ap credit. How many credit hours would be manageable per semester? Should I enroll in another class on pathways online to meet more of the degree requirements? Is 20 credit hours too light?

bodkin: 20 sounds about right-- i think the max they'll let you take is 21 or 22.

i wouldn't recommend signing up for anymore classes if you are enrolled in 2 science courses. but if you're only in one, and if you're planning on majoring in something other than liberal arts (which is the norm), then you could push for another class, if you want to. but in my opinion, its not necessary.

you want to get as many A's as you can your first year (it will def come in handy for your science GPA later down the road), so don't stretch yourself too thin.

Anyone on here looking to enroll for the class of 2014?

Thanks CookieFairy. I was wondering how long it takes to walk from Royall Hall to the Biological Sciences Building. I see I have only 10mins between classes, is that enough ?

Can you suggest some safe/good apartments nearby the college?

volker campus overall is not very large. you should be fine. most likely you'll have many fellow med students walking with you to and from those classes anyway.

Why do med students live in Oak Street dorms? Can they choose to live in the average dorms?

Also, can someone who is currently in the program tell me how much time a person has for friends or a significant other?

Also, is it true that most people merely get a liberal arts major for their bachelors degree?

pinksquirrels: it is required to live in the Oak Street dorms as a med student; all of the med students live there the first year. there is only one other dorm (cherry street dorms).

i am out-of-state so i made all new friends in the program, and we hang out all the time--whether its for study groups, birthdays, time at the park, etc. of course the majority of my time is spent studying, more so now than during the first or second years, but it is all about time management and efficiency. i hope that answers your question.

it is the norm to get a BLA (liberal arts) because it is simple, and the focus is put on our MD. Keep in mind that I think we all qualify for I think chem & soc minors unless i am mistaken. the idea in this program is to get the BLA out of the way and spend more time in the sciences and clinical stuff. nevertheless, you can if you want to have a different major; i have friends doing spanish, biology, chemistry, etc. i would personally recommend only doing so if you are coming in with a lot of credit.

hey they said that you have to apply a year in advance....does that mean that since i'll be an upcoming senior this fall i should have applied fall of my junior year or apply fall of senior year like for all of the other colleges??
