Umm...could this be a problem?

OK. So I submitted my whole app already and noticed that for one of my activities in the Activities section I put down that I did it in 11,12 and in an atachment i gave i put down 10,11 (which is correct). could this be a MAJOR problem?

Just email them now to correct it!

i emailed them at ugrad-confirm@columbia.edu is that the correct email address? i've already emailed that address a couple times (regardin other changes I wanted to make) and have yet to get a response.

sorry but very not gonna happen.....no one will correct anything in your application...at best someone might print it out and attach it to your application or something of the sort.

Your biggest problem here though is that pointing out MANY mistakes in your application makes you look sloppy and disinterested in columbia. Its a much bigger problem that you sent those emails....if they ever possibly get printed out and attached to your application that is.

well, they're not necessarily mistakes.
email 1 - I later decided that I do not want to major in English so I asked them to take that off as my major
email 2 - A relative who called (who I speak to maybe once every 5 years) telling me all these names of people in my family (not even close relatives) who attended Columbia. I sent a couple of these names after being pressured into doing so.
email 3 - the above mistake

The only one I would really consider a mistake is the last one. Anyone else here agree?

You'll probably be fine, just stop emailing them. At this point, I doubt they really mind. You caught the mistakes, and it's even before the deadline. They may not make the changes or even attach the stuff you sent in, but if they did, I doubt it would hurt your chances. If you were doing this maybe several weeks later, THEN it would be a problem.

Other schools I applied to corrected my mistakes-- I checked a wrong box in the Brown application and they emailed me back promptly, telling me they changed it.

"Your biggest problem here though is that pointing out MANY mistakes in your application makes you look sloppy and disinterested in columbia. "

It would be MUCH worse if they noticed the conflicting information and decided you were lying in your application! Emailing them shows you care, not that you are "disinterested". Plus, most (human) students do end up making silly mistakes on their application, so it's not that big a deal!

i think you may have to fax them something. that's what happen to me when there was an error on my app and i called in to have it fixed. i never did fax the revision though.

it's not that big a deal. the people reviewing your application are not lawyers trying to hawk over the smallest of mistakes. These are big-picture people.

My advice is to not bother the admissions staff right now, who are absolutely crushed under the weight of 20,000 applications.

Chances are they don't even notice it, unless it's one of your major activities. Just think about readings thousands of apps each year, do you think you would notice a small detail like this if this activity isn't even one of your main ones?

well it is one of my main ones. maybe i will fax them...

I think they should accept you based on your usename alone.

oh haha. i totally messed up when i created it. i meant tryin2staycool (like im rly nervous) but it ended ip being, wel u know the rest. :p
