Un-realistic? Advice would be Appreciated!

Ok guys, so I have a promblem. My class rank is seriously bad. On my transcript, for me vs. other students in my class, I am in the 2nd column, so there are clearly kids who are better than me, and some of them are applying to Columbia as well.

But the reason is because I had a very poor freshman year and got all B's (my transcript shows that clearly). So I have gotten all A's my sophmore year and junior year and hopefully the same for the first part of senior. I also take the most AP's my school has to offer and in my class.

But I am worried because I am an unhooked Indian applicant. I have good scores and good extra-curriculers but I am worried that even if I have great essays, my rank might be to low (in comparison to others). Will this keep me out of Columbia SEAS?

What is realistic? I want to apply ED here, but I don't want to be crushed when I see a rejection either. Thanks

What is your class rank or percentile? It’s going to be a stretch but it is possible. You better have some really good essays and recommendations and supporting credentials.

I’d be top 10% of a class of 500, but barely in it. My transcript shows a section where there is a bar graph, and there are like a few of them. I am in the second one with most of the other top students (the one in front is with like the top 5-8 kids). This ofcourse does not take into account that my classes were significantly harder.

But will the fact that I have improved greatly be seen in a positive light or will they think “ahhh his GPA is still to low” ? And yea, i hope to GOD that my essays and everything else are perfect!

BUMP anyone else think I might be able to still make it?
