Undergraduates will be notified of their PID when they are sent a letter notifying that they have been accepted.

i read that too but obviously they give one to prospective students cause we all have one.

Yup!

ALL this means nothing. Because nobody has NOT been able to get there PID. No way we're all getting into UNC!

i second that but it depresses me. was hoping that there was a way to "know" before you are supposed to know.

Elizabethtown - Just curious, how do you know that everybody has a PID? Thanks.

alright guys, i followed your directions -- unfortunately the university cashier was closed so i couldnt confirm any of your findings

i did manage to find my pid, though, so i guess we're all in the same boat :/

CarolinaMom,

So far, nobody on this board has been unable to get their PID or to connect with the cashier--right? Is there anybody who CAN'T do either of these things out there?

Hey ya'll. Once you get your PID, do you show up in student directory? I do. I'm guessing that getting the PID puts you in the directory.

i am there too. i have been in the directory for months? but no letter, no email inviting me to a chat and no contact at all since the mid year grades.

i know you guys are going to get mad but don't you really think this is not a good system? other schools simply don't give you this kind of "in" to their info. seems sort of "sloppy"?

ok, that's it. i am calling them today and asking why we are all in the directory and all have pids and all can pay for school but we are not accepted. shouldn't this info be available after decisions, not before?

Ah, come on. We're getting this info because we're mucking around in places we don't belong. And what security breaches have there been? What info have we gotten that we shouldn't have? I doubt it's sloppy security; probably just efficient business to assign everyone a PID when they apply. I'm just gonna log out for a while and wait for a letter--which I'm assuming will be a rejection :)

Elizabeth, we have five days. maybe just forgetting all of this would be there best. eadad said you get addicted to this instant info and i am starting to see it. i was happier when i did not know as much!

Yup, peace vatownsend. (Your probably just a bit more hyper than me because your chances are better). Good luck! Over and out.

The question now is does everyone have a directory listing? if Elizabethtown, gastudent and i all have our names in the directory, do the rest of you? and why are we already there? fun mystery!

I don't know what to make of the directory issue. Of all the kids I know that were accepted to UNC, the only one with his name in the directory is a kid that has already sent in his money. Nobody else is in there from EA, not even a Morehead Scholar finalist. I'm surprised that the school said decisions would be posted and then mailed, since there site says just the opposite will happen. I wouldn't stake a lot on the March 31 date. I think they want this over as much as everyone else.

I'm in directory--no word on acceptance. CarolinaMom did you try the directory after retrieving your PID? Mine didn't show up till after I got PID. I am also in the directory of 2 other colleges that I have not sent in $$ for (although I am accepted in those).

fuzzyduck - My D has a PID but she is not in the directory. Haven't a clue what/if any of this means anything. My D's close second choice is posting decisions on Sat at 10am and they weren't due until April 1, so I'm hoping Carolina will do something sooner than later.

Did you submit a FAFSA CarolinaMom? Maybe that's how you get in the directory. I can't imagine that UNC would actually put new admits in the directory before releasing info. Too weird.

How many others are in directory? How many aren't?

As I said earlier... in 2004 they posted them on March 24th. I suspect and hope they will do the same this year. My guess is the person in the admissions office is told to say nothing will be available until March 31st to all callers. If I am correct - only a few more days.

fuzzyduck - No, she didn't submit a FAFSA form. I agree, too weird.
I also agree with Hopeful Aunt - I would really be surprised if they waited until March 31, but I'm sure they can't say otherwise. If I remember correctly, EA started getting notices around the 21st of January.
