UNC-CH OOS Scholarships

What kind of stats would I need to have to be considered for an OOS scholarship?

UNC-CH has VERY few merit scholarships. For many, academic stats are not enough. They will look at your whole application. I would not count on any scholarships.

You need top stats to get admitted as an out of state student.

And since you need top stats to just get admitted, you would need tippy top stats to be even considered for any OOS merit money…which there really isn’t much of anyway.

I looked at your chances thread. Your chances of being admitted to UNC are as good as any other OOS student.

None of the above would be a “hook” for admission to any college.

Also, you say you won’t qualify for need based aid at all, which implies that you are not an underprivileged student either.

@thumper1 I know they’re not hooks but I couldn’t think of a better word lol. I put the first gen in college because georgetown cares and I put the other 2 because I’ve seen others do it. Not planning of making any of things a main point in my app. I’m not underprivileged but any money would help.

@thumper1 by “as good of a chance” do you mean you’d think I could get in or not?

UNC has a limit on OOS admits. They are required to admit a certain %age of instate applicants. OOS comes after that. OOS admissions are extremely competitive. Your chances are as good as any other OOS applicant with good stats. It’s not a sure thing.

If you get in and don’t qualify for need based aid, plan on being full pay.

Did you try their net price calculator?

@mommdc I ran it all of my numbers were estimates but it said nothing.

Well…if you put your numbers in accurately in their net price calculator…and it says you will receive NO financial aid…then you won’t likely receive any.

Does the UNC net price calculator ask for GPA or SAT scores? Does it include merit awards (anyone know?).

:

The UNC NPC does not include merit awards. The school is very generous with FA and does meet full need for all students. OOS merit aid is very difficult and is not usually based only on gpa and test scores since almost all OOS applicants have these outrageous stats.

@twogirls would you mind looking at my chance thread and chancing me for admission?

I sent you a PM.
