UNC-CH vs U Penn

The obvious key here is Wharton; if admitted to the College (General Studies) as datdude said above why turn down UNC? If however the admit is to Wharton then some serious consideration should be done. If she is interested in Investment Banking though, UNC Kenan grads are among the few outside the HYPs that land interviews and spots at the prestigious IB houses.

Just got back from a trip and found your great feedback here. Thanks!

The reason my D applied to UPenn is that the admissions officer from the Huntsman program (dual diploma: Wharton Business/International Relations) interviewed her at her high school and was VERY convincing about her chances. Her "waitlisted" letter did not specify which school within U Penn she was waitlisted for. We're assuming it is the General Studies program, at this point.

More information we received: a graduate of her high school has just "survived" his freshman year in the same program... and is more relieved, then happy, about the experience. Wharton or not, I believe the undergraduate experience needs to be a good one, all around. We're discussing re-applying for graduate school. I'm happy about the decison.
(Anyway, this might all be a mute point... The days are ticking by, and no notificatios about an acceptance. Oh, well.)

Thanks again for all your feedback!

One more piece... D's not too interested in Business, but a Wharton acceptance would be the golden key, wouldn't it? The international relations part interests her more... but her dream career is in Communications...journalism, advertising, public relations...
We're really happy with UNC!

omg...journalism/ad/PR...

unc is the way to go. period.

those are the areas im interested in also =]
