UNC Chapel Hill Business or NCSU Engineering?

I have been accepted to UNC as a business major and I have also been accepted as a civil engineer at NC State. I’m really torn about which college I should go to as they both have pros and cons. NC State has amazing STEM programs and I’m in love with the modern aspect of centennial campus; I also love the unlimited amounts of technology and resources that are available to the students as well as the engineering internship opportunities. UNC, on the other hand, has a beautiful, diverse campus, an amazing business school, good dorms/food imo, and the liberal arts curriculum encourages people to explore many classes and have more than one major. At UNC I would most likely double major with Business/Finance and Compsci with a minor in a language while at NC State I would solely major in Civil engineering. I know I would be happy at either college so it’s really a matter of choosing the “better” one. Does anyone have any experience with either or both colleges that could give some insight to a prospective student? Or does anyone have any recommendations based off of job prospects for business v engineering majors?

You really should explore the subjects you would study to determine what majors you are most interested in and fit you best.

I am a civil engineering graduate from NCSU. I love the field, I’ve been a designer and planner, but mostly a construction engineer. It is a very diverse occupation with no two days being the same and each presenting their on challenges. I spend half my day outside and half inside or traveling between projects.

You should explore the two career paths and determine which fits you better. How long do you want to be in school? Most engineers only get a BS degree, but you may need to pursue a masters degree in your UNC path. If you go to State, you can switch to a business/compsci major, but you will not be able to do the reverse.

If you decide on engineering, take advantage of co-op opportunities, which I did and really helped me decide on my career path.

Best of luck.
