I know a lot of these are a super reach, but what do you think?
UNC Chapel Hill
Emory university
Vanderbilt
Notre Dame

Well you need to atleast tell us what your expected SAT score is. I will assume your SAT score is a 2000 flat.

Under that assumption, all of your schools are reaches with maybe UNC being a low reach.

So what would you say a safe school could be for me?

@iamjack so what would you say is a safe school for me?

@ally2468 uhh well like I said, it would be a lot more helpful if you gave us a predicted SAT score… unless you want us to base your chances on your current PSAT score. With your current PSAT scores, I don’t think you’ll have too many safeties. I guess you can try a few CUNY’s, but I don’t know the new york system too well (im from california). I think you have have fair shots at some of the big public schools like ASU, Ohio state, and other schools along those lines. Your gpa is fine (im assuming that is your unweighted GPA), but youre sat might cause some concern to colleges. Why is there a big difference in your psat and gpa?

@iamjack well i am hoping to get around a 2100 on the SATs, and I will be taking he ACTs as well. That is my unweighted GPA, and the psat differs so much from my GPA because I basically forgot j was even taking the psat until the day before, and when I was taking the test(as a sophomore), I omitted any question that I was even remotely doubting which was the correct answer. I’ve only ever taken honors/ap/accelerated classes. Also, are my EC’s ok?

I think your EC’s are “ok” (maybe slightly below average) for the schools you are applying to. A lot of people that get into those schools have better EC’s, so I would suggest you do something related to medicine. A lot of people from my school did summer medical programs (like SIMR or cosmos), so you might want to try and do that the following summer (the summer right before senior year). That might be a bit risky since its kinda last minute and you may or may not get into those programs so try doing something during the school year. I wouldn’t really recommend volunteering at a hospital unless that’s the only thing you are capable of getting because a lot of students do that and it doesn’t look as great as it sounds.

And yeah, don’t stress about the psat. My psat was horrible too sophomore year (I think it was around yours) and after preparing and taking an SAT class, I got my score up to the 2100’s range. It’s definitely doable.

Good Luck!
