I am looking to go premed, and I am instate for Georgia Tech. So there is about an $8,000 difference between money being paid to the schools in the long run, after all the financial aid stuff. I've heard it's much harder to get into a good med school from tech. I also want to study abroad, which Tech is not too good at. Which should I go with?

They’re both good schools…is the $8000 per year or over the length of 4 years? also is the concept that its harder to get into medical school because tech is harder & you won’t get as high of grades?

Tech has one of the best study abroad programs in the nation…

What is your backup plan if you decide not to go to medical school? Does the major you are planning on have good job prospects? Which school would be better for that major?

OP also doesn’t mention how much of the FA was in the form of loans. D got into UNC OOS and was offered a FA package that was 70% loans and work study.

If you’re instate Tech is a much better choice, especially if you’re not totally sure that you want to do premed.

My Son was between GA Tech and several other schools- Techs study Abroad was not “the best in the nation” but it is relatively good, compared to some. They do have several choices of countries, you do get full semester credit for the courses, and they actually will send instructors with you to make sure you are getting the credits you need, so it is a true Study Abroad. If it is a difference of $8,000 per year, I’d say get on the phone with Tech and make sure you understand their medical placement stats.
