It’s actually my son—he applied for Exercise Science. He’s at a small university now playing soccer but will likely transfer if he gets in. His GPA is around 3.7, so it’s dicey. He is an NC resident, though. He is supposed to let his coach know his plans for next year soon, so the pressure is on.
What about you?
Ok cool! I think a being a NC resident may help a bit with him getting in, and I think a 3.7 gpa gives him a fair shot.
I applied to Kenan Flagler, which I know is very competitive. I did select to be admitted to the College of Arts & Sciences if they can’t admit me to the business school. I’m an out of state student with a 3.85 gpa and I am Chief officer of the Business Honor Society at my current college, so hopefully that helps.
Best of luck to your son!
I’m sure you’ll thrive if you get in. Best of luck!
I don’t believe so.
Do we think that decisions will come out this Friday the 1st or next Friday the 8th?
I think the 8th. I think they just finished regular decisions, so maybe they’re a little behind? In the past forums I haven’t seen the decisions released before the 7th.
Applying as a Junior from Appalachian State University (In-State)
College GPA: 3.88
High School GPA: Somewhere around a 3.6ish (Was a bad student first two years)
ACT: 30
Applying as a Communications Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences - Current Journalism major at ASU
Also I’m from Chapel Hill and have a lot of family that went to UNC, so hopefully that helps.
As for ECs, I managed/started/front-manned a local band here in Boone that became quite popular — also made presidents list twice and am a part of an honors society. I have done a lot of fundraising for cancer research through multiple groups as well.
Essays are strong (I think writing is one of my strong suits) and I have 4 letters of recommendation.
Really hoping I get, I’m really putting all my eggs in one basket here so if I were to get rejected I would be devastated. Best of luck everyone!
Nice stats! I’d say you have a good chance. Best of luck!
UNC admissions just withdrew my application for no reason and I am about to have a mental breakdown
omg why would they do that?
they said that I didn’t have all the required documents and I sent it to them 3 times, the 3rd time I got an email saying that they received it and to allow 2-3 weeks for my portal to update on the 21st. I don’t know why they withdrew it because all my information was in and I’m freaking out because what if they don’t unwithdraw it?
That’s really strange. I would think they can unwithdraw it bc they should have your application on file. I hope you hear back from them soon about this.
If you have an electronic trail (an email confirming they received all the required information/documents), you should be ok. Don’t back down—somebody should be able to explain or fix it.
Thanks, I was able to get the situation figured out and talked to someone at admissions and my application is back in
i think it says the 15th on their website, but im not sure if that’s the actual date or like a “you’ll receive your decision by…” deadline
here’s the link im referencing: Decisions - Undergraduate Admissions
does anyone know if this is correct?
It says by the 15th on their website. In the past, they’ve always released them on the 8th or 9th. They usually post on twitter.
My guess is late next week like Thursday or friday
Anyone try making their onyen?
My friend that transferred to UNC last year said he got his the Friday before it was supposed to be released so he said that it would probably be out on the 8th
No, how are we supposed to do that
