UNC class of 2019 EA thread

Unless he posts a pic of the letter, I’m not believing it.

I wouldn’t be so sure. Just sayin haha

I don’t believe it. They supposedly send Honors Carolina notifications after acceptances (according to college counseling at my high school). I live in NC and haven’t heard of anyone else receiving anything.

Need help!!!

Okay so I’ve lived in NC for most of my life, but since the beginning of junior year I’ve been living with relatives in Florida. My mom still lives in North Carolina, so I do qualify for in state in NC still – but I never submitted any proof of residency besides the basic questions asked on the common app.

So my high school will be listed as being in FL, but address will be in NC – do you think that I’ll still be considered as an in state applicant without the proof?

Please reply!

if it is like most colleges, your graduation high school is what they go by. You can establish residency again after you are accepted…

And what if I get denied because i don’t meet “out of state” requirements?

@callmebiscuit‌ If your official address is still in North Carolina, you should be considered as a North Carolina resident. Your mom is still paying NC taxes… so I don’t see why you wouldn’t be considered as an in state applicant. But I could be wrong.

I see someone posted that the 2011 decisions came out at noon. Not that it matters but i was wringing my hands on that date and remember that it was around 5:00! It was a teacher workday in our city/county and my son was in bed sleeping. I made him get up and log in at noon as I couldn’t stand it any longer. Nothing. He gave me his password, said, “Have at it” and went back to bed, ha!

Yeah, and the 2013 decisions definitely came out later than 11:30am.

@callmebiscuit‌ I feel like that’s a question you need to ask the admissions office

Don’t know about you guys, but my stomach is in complete knots. I’m so tired of feeling like this; I don’t understand why it’s so hard for them to tell us more information! UNC Admissions are so secretive…

@callmebiscuit Please don’t ask for such important information on a forum such as this. Go to the registrar’s page on the UNC website and there is a whole section there about residency requirements according to state statutes and the criteria used to make decisions, appeals, deadlines, decision dates, etc. If you have further questions after looking at the requirements, you really need to call the admissions office or the registrar’s office. I would think this information is very important to your being able to attend UNC if you are accepted and that you will need official answers to your questions. Good luck to you.

We had to fill out additional forms for instate residency and send tax returns and other documentation since my daughter is in high school in Florida and her father lives in Charlotte. The questions were very detailed and asked for all times and how long student had been in NC for the last year or so. We ended up 1/2 & 1/2. qualifying for instate admittance but not for instate tuition. If accepted she can resubmit the residency form within two weeks of the start of school and should be granted in state tuition. It is a lot of hoops to jump through.

@2CarolinaGirls‌ Okay thanks! Sorry, I just realized this today and am panicking :-SS

@hjarmer15‌ I live in NC and there’s been no mail to me.

@callmebiscuit I so totally understand your panic. I just really want to make sure you have all the correct information and aren’t relying on hearsay from public forums as you make your college plans. Best of luck!

@nomorenails‌ Thank you for your input!

@mikamia I also received a letter in the mail (probably similar to what the guy on Twitter is talking about). It wasn’t a complete acceptance letter, and I emailed the admissions office to confirm this. What we received was an invitation to UNC’s Scholarship Day on February 20th. The admissions counselor I spoke with (Andrew Parrish) said that they send advance notice to the 60 OOS students who are merit scholarship finalists so that they can make travel arrangements.

I don’t know if they also send these letters out in state or not, but I don’t think you should be worried–they are NOT acceptances. Admissions decisions will be online like always. I hope this helps.

Do we think if i called the admissions office and asked if they would be releasing decisions today or tomorrow they would tell us?
