UNC class of 2019 EA thread

Hey guys! The deadline was a couple of weeks ago, and I don't know about you, but I'm super nervous! I wanted to start this thread so we can chance each other and give each other advice as it gets closer and closer to the end of January. Post away!

I applied in september! I’m an OSS applicant so I have no idea if I can get in. Hoping for good results

I’m in-state and I have good grades, good ec’s, and a good ACT score…I think I have just as much chance of getting accepted as I do rejected :-S

How long does it take to get our results?

@WayneS1996 - “By the End of January” is the answer UNC Admissions gives and that will likely be the case again. Do not expect to hear from them until the third week in January at the earliest but it is entirely possible it will draw out to the final week. Carolina tends to post the decisions on ConnectCarolina late on Friday afternoon so 1/23 or 1/30/2015 are likely dates. They do mail letters the week that decisions are posted on the website so some with dependable mail find out a day or so earlier.

Hey guys! I’m a current student here at Carolina and I thought it’s be good idea to create a page to help out any incoming students. Feel free to ask any questions about campus life, academics or anything else!

Do they email us to check our status or are we suppose to just constantly check our status to know if we got in?

UNC will give updates on their Admissions Blog, though they will be vague. They will post instructions on the blog a couple of days before results are ready and you will also receive an email. If they follow the pattern from the past several years, decisions will be up late on a Friday. The system will be taxed and getting in to view your information may be slow.

This site will have a lot of discussion activity and is a good place to see when results are available, rather than constantly checking ConnectCarolina. Good luck!

Ah guys, so nervous! Does anyone know when we find about special program/scholarship offers if we are (cross your fingers) admitted?

The stress is getting to me. My daughter applied in September for EA. Has anybody else received emails recently: 7 reasons why UNC is the right school for you, and How to pay for your UNC education- sent by a student- describing financial aid and scholarships. Do they send out these emails and then reject you? I think scholarships and special programs get emailed a few days before or after acceptances.

@twogirls I also received those e-mails.

Thanks. I think it’s terribly mean to send those emails out to kids they plan to reject, but unfortunately it happens all the time.

They send those emails to anyone on their mailing list, I believe - including every one who has applied. But it isn’t linked to your daughter’s application.

Can we expect early action decisions before January 31. What was the date last year?

Hard to say. Based on this forum, the decisions for the past 4 years were posted online as follows:

1-21-11 at 12:00pm
1-19-12 at 9:30am
1-25-13 at 11:30am
1-30-14 at 3:30pm

@chud182‌ thanks. Hopefully we will get them at the earliest possible time!

I would loooooooooove it if they came out on the 16th (Carolina has a tradition of sending out applications on Fridays), but I think it’ll be the 23rd. I hope it isn’t the 30th; I have a swim meet that day!

I’m so nervous y’all! Over 20 applicants from my school!

Does anyone know if they tell you about scholarships along with acceptance? Or is it after?

Since you’re automatically considered for the scholarships I’m assuming they tell you along with the acceptance… that’s how FSU did it.
