UNC Class of 2021 EA

Sorry, meant to say Tufts is need aware.

I believe decisions are on the 26th.

Does anyone know how much attending Project Uplift counts towards admissions? Whenever I attended last year, I remember someone saying that I was almost guaranteed admittance just for attending and that we would be assigned a special admissions officer. Although I would love for that to be the case, I was just wondering if it attending put any positive marks on your application besides just demonstrated interest.

I don’t think it has any pull.

Does being a Morehead-Cain nominee have any bearing on the admissions process for the university overall?

@figgie13 I’ve heard that too but I don’t think that it has anything to do with attending Project Uplift. I think the probable reason that some people have this impression is because they take a lot of people from Project Uplift because usually the people they ask to attend are high-achieving minorities, which DO have a lot of pull in admissions.

@rajandhisjourney I wouldn’t think so. I was one of my school’s nominees as well, but since it was only school-wide, and UNC played no part in the nomination.

Odds are, if you were one of two school nominees for a full-ride scholarship to UNC, your stats are good enough to get you in anyways.

Larger schools in NC can nominate up to 5 students for Morehead-Cain. Except for ARP nominees, M-C is independent from UNC Admissions, so there are no guarantees that being nominated means an acceptance. But as @adp106 indicated, it’s a good sign.

@wstrav My apologies - I was unaware that there were 5 nominees in some schools. I do realize that Morehead-Cain is independent from admissions, but I was acknowledging that a nomination likely implies strong academic performance, so that’s what I meant.

When do results come out for EA, like date and time EST?

@adp106 I appreciate the reassurance. My school is one that only selects two nominees for the Morehead-Cain scholarship. It’s a small and fairly competitive private school so I’m hoping that the nomination is indicative of good news. I guess at this point we just sit back and wait for decisions to come out, haha. Good luck to you and everyone else applying and thanks for the help!

@purplepuffin21 No exact date has been announced. We anticipate it will be the last week of January. Watch your email for an email notification from UNC and check in here to see if results are out.

Can someone chance me again? haha just want more opinions.

In-state

sat is low but since you’re in state, that helps A TON especially for unc which has an 18% limit on out of state students. umich is already 50% out of state for class of 2020. good luck! @adepani3112

mom of a junior here. what is CSS?

CSS Profile is the financial aid form, run by the College Board, which many colleges use to calculate financial aid. FAFSA is the free form used by the federal government for its financial aid. Many colleges, including UNC, require both forms for those applying for financial aid.

@adepani3112: In about 10 days or so you should be getting the only opinion that counts.

I looked at Admissions’s Twitter and I can’t find anything that proves or disproves the January 26th hypothesis. I hope they release decisions then and not later! I had a dream a week or so ago that I was rejected, and I was so happy when I woke up and realized that was only a dream. Best of luck to everyone as we wait here for sooooooooo long

Just to pitch in on the MC discussion, I don’t know if it’s worth anything, but I was my school’s sole nominee (competitive high school) and I can almost assure you guys I’ll be getting denied next week haha. OOS, 4.2/3.8 GPA, 31 ACT, aka I’m an idiot in this context and have no shot lol.
