UNC Class of 2021 EA

anyone get the email about the option to apply for a grant to use if you take a gap year?

Yes, my DS also received the email.

Yes, son received that email yesterday evening.

Yes, I received that email.

So there is no mention of covering or partially covering travel cost for Selection day Feb 25th. Did anybody hear anything or ask?

@SincererLove I got something in the mail days ago about that, which they would cover if I come. I do not know how that works though. Maybe because I am poor, I do not know.

@SincererLove Just curious if your DS or DD received an email regarding Selection Day or was it a surprise in the mail with their admittance letter? We are OOS and still have not received any mail confirming the admittance email. Is Selection Day for the chosen few to interview for the Scholars scholarships? If so, congrats and good luck!

Oh boy, wish I could say that DS has received an acceptance letter in the mail, but I can’t and he hasn’t. He did receive the email about the global gap year. I’m wondering if that’s about enrollment management… maybe they’re worried they accepted too many students that are likely to accept? We’ve set up another visit, this time to formally tour the business school on a day that they actually have a scheduled tour. I’ll be interested to see how that goes.

If they were concerned they accepted too many students, they could rectify this by accepting less in the RD round.

@paveyourpath I’m sure you are right but I had the same thoughts as @snorkelmom we are yet to receive anything in the mail from UNC and only received the email about the gap year. My daughter isn’t expecting anything special from UNC…she’s the only one in her high school to be accepted. She’s number 1 in the class with high scores…number 2 was deferred, also with high scores. OOS of course.

Two years ago UNC sent out large packets along with the acceptance letters. My guess is that they are coming.

They sent out large packets along with the acceptance letters this year as well. My son is IS and he received his packet and multiple letters. Many IS and many OOS have not. They are coming, but not coming as fast as they should/ could be. UNC has a very long process (Oct 15 deadline to end of Jan admissions). Some of the scholarships/ honors announcements, etc have come out in bits and pieces and it’s something that will be frustrating for many families trying to sort through their options and make decisions. It’s unfortunate.

IS received accepted email but nothing in regular mail. Was hoping for Honors College. Morehead Semi Finalist .

Hi! I’m new here and I would like to know if anyone recieved early assurance from the Pharmacy school yet?

So, here’s the deal with Carolina Admissions. They are understaffed. Please don’t read anything more into the slowness of mail. It is NOT a reflection on you or your children’s merit. If you have been admitted, they want you to attend. The mail will arrive, and it will say basically the same thing the online acceptance said. Please be patient, and parents, please don’t make your children any more anxious.

Yeah for example umich supposedly has enough staff but it took them over 3 weeks to mail the letter to me even though I live only 30 min from ann arbor. I literally could’ve driven to admissions and requested my letter my friend who goes to my school and lives 10 min from me even received hers like 3 days before I did so they are sent out in batches

Yes. My daughter is IS and she received early assurance Pharmacy program interview invite email on Friday from UNC Eshelman Pharmacy school.

@Victoria99 The Pharmacy school sent out invitations to the Open House and Interview Day for the Assured Admissions Program on Friday. Check your email and junk folder.

My daughter got a envelope for Granville towers. I assume it is off campus rentals. No official mailing from UNC yet

Will information about merit scholarships come separately from the financial aid package? Our FA package only has loans and work study on it. Does that mean there’s no chance of a merit scholarship?
