Hey, everyone,
Does anyone know anything about midyear reports? I had heard that we need to self-report our first semester grades, but I’m not seeing a spot in which to do it on the application portal.
Hey, everyone,
Does anyone know anything about midyear reports? I had heard that we need to self-report our first semester grades, but I’m not seeing a spot in which to do it on the application portal.
I reported them on sunday no problem. For me it was just marking the letter grades. Should be on connect carolina on the side bar.
We are anxiously awaiting RD for both of my sons. We are OOS, so I’m not hopeful they will get in.
DS #1 1500 SAT, 34 ACT, 4.3 weighted GPA in a full IB program (3.6 UW), National Merit Semi-finalist (assuming will be finalist)
DS#2 1480 SAT, 34 ACT, 4.2 weighted GPA in a full IB program (3.5 UW), National Merit Commended
We don’t think they will get any needs-based aid and it would be doubtful for scholarship, so they probably couldn’t attend anyway. That being said, they both want to get in and attend.
I couldn’t find where to self-report the grades ): There is nothing on my to do list
If you have been accepted already, do you need to self-report mid-year grades?
Yes @Rio123. Those that have been accepted are required to self-submit mid-year grades.
@toris565 My son just got the email saying he should check his “to do list” at 7pm this evening.
Curious. What major did all of you who were IS deferred apply for? My son, applied for Computer Science.
Does anybody know when to expect a decision? Daughter was deferred EA and is patiently awaiting a response. OOS, ACT 35, 11 APs, National Merit Finalist, 3.98 UW, 4.5 W. Applied for biology. She would look so good in Carolina blue…
Is it true that the admissions committee mainly looks at test scores and GPA for OOS applicants?
^ Extremely doubtful. The Common Data Set for UNC states in Part C7 that recommendations, application essay(s), standardized test scores, rigor of the secondary school record, extracurricular activities, talent/ability, and character/personal qualities are “very important” factors in the admissions decision (along with state of residency); and that class rank and GPA are “important” factors in the admissions decision.
I can’t imagine that the admissions office would only consider the test scores and GPA, and ignore all of the other “very important” factors of OOS applicants; otherwise you would have only OOS applicants with 35 or 36 ACT scores and perfect GPAs getting admitted. That is not the case.
@RelocatedYankee I think they came out March 27th a few years ago, so I assuming somewhere around that time, so probably the second to last friday or the last monday in march.
IM DYING!! WHEN ARE THEY GONNA RELEASE THIS THING?!? WHAT DOES THE END OF MARCH EVEN MEAN???
Update on RD decision date?
What does the excel@Carolina survey mean? Is this email sent to everyone who checked off Honors Carolina and Summer Research program on their Common App? I have not received my acceptance to UNC yet.
I do not recall if anyone received it (EA) that did not get offered at least one of the excel opportunities. Make sure you complete the survey. In the past, UNC would send out the survey later but it seems they are now trying to align the decisions with providing the excel opportunities a student is being offered.
So, is the email like a likely letter?
I do not think every one receives the survey who checked the opportunities. At least, it seemed that way in the EA round. I would say receiving the email is probably a positive sign. Best of luck to you!
Let’s just say it’s a really good sign. It’s definitely not as blatant as a likely letter but if you go look at the EA thread, you will see it was a precursor for what was to come.
Any hunches on the exact date besides “by the end of march”
