UNC Class of 2023 EA Discussion Thread

Hey all, when do merit scholarship notifications come out? If there is nothing in the financial aid package, does that mean I also didn’t get a merit scholarship?

From their website, “If you apply Early Action, you should hear by early February if you are offered a merit scholarship”
I don’t believe merit aid was in the financial aid packet we just received (solely need-based)

I still don’t see anything once I log into this onyen account thing. :frowning:

@tkdqueen035 Merit aid was included in the financial aid packet. @NyuLeg19 I received my scholarship notification a few days after my admissions decision but there are a few more scholarships that will be announced by mid-February. Good luck!

Any word on when Assured Admit decisions will come out? Waiting on Keenan Flagler news.

All Excel@Carolina decisions, including Assured Admit to KF, are all out already.

Ok…so not good for us then i guess :frowning:

But is the process that you are only notified IF you get Assured?

We haven’t gotten any communication saying DD did not get it.

@Boss an - You are only notified if you got in. Very few people actually do get assured admission to KFBS.

Got it. Bummer. I think UNC will end up as Thank You…Next

Son accepted to UNC. We already got a financial aid package. Once you throw out the loans and work study he ended up with a little over $12,000 per year for OOS. Not bad. We got deferred at Harvard, so now we play the waiting game until end of March for the other schools he applied to.

Apparently OOS % was 11% this year… wow!

@happytrees where’d you hear that from?

For those accepted, have you received your “Congratulations Packet” in the mail yet? Or does UNC not send out packets? Thanks.

@SnatchCat i received mine today

Daughter OOS and waitlisted. Anyone know the chance of WL clearing? Thinking we should move on.

@collegedadto3

If you google UNC admissions blog and click on the FAQ Waitlisted Decisions link, the stats for the last 3 years are there.

There is says 9 OOS applicants were offered admission off the WL out of the 1400+ who accepted a WL slot.

It’s a good idea to move on to plan B, C, etc at this point. If your DD gets off the WL, then it’ll be a pleasant surprise.?

Good luck!

For last fall the OOS waitlist had 3,244 offers and 9 admits, or a conversation rate of 0.28%

Interpret that how you will.

Hey @andrea391 , I’m a CSS finalist too! Are you going to the selection weekend?

Did someone say that they received their scholarship offer in the Tar Heel welcome packet that came in postal mail?

D just declined her acceptance to UNC CH. Good luck to all who are waiting to get off the waitlist.
