Writing about a disorder is a bit risky to some extent, but if you could make it natural in your application and connect it ideally with your academic goal, it’s a good choice. BTW, why don’t you show your own cookie business on your application? That sounds cool to me!

I actually started the business after I had already submitted the application unfortunately. But it’s doing really well! I’m doing a Valentine’s Day fundraiser rn and have raised about $130 dollars and I’m donating it all to my senior class! So I have to make 9 dozen cookies in 2 weeks lol

So I understand. You’re doing great! The pity is that your medical activities are not too strong based on your description, but I can see you’re a special person. Wish you the best luck!

Thanks! Same to you! And I know. I was going to do a volunteer program at a local hospital but then covid hit and I was unable to. I was rlly looking forward to it

If you could mention this part in the 250-word community eruption essay and highlight what you’ve done and prepared even during the pandemic, that’ll help a lot, I suppose.

I love the CC. I'm on it for a bunch of schools. But I'm 50+. Everyone is every week wondering - is it this week or next. Is it Tuesday or Wednesday or Friday. Soon it will be out and in or not, the adrenaline will be gone and our kids will all do great things in life.
I started thinking. I'm a tad over 50. I applied to 9 schools. No common app. No shared recommendation - and my CC was running to the mailbox every day to see if I got an acceptance letter from a college.
 Simpler times :)

What kind of hidden whispers? I’m so anxious!

Does anyone think it might come today?

Yea I just heard from a few other forums and friends that there will be some kind of update thing today! I assume it will just be an email saying we have finished our review/thankful for your interest in Carolina and will be releasing decisions in the coming days.

I honestly have a feeling it might but I’m trying not to get my hopes up so I’m not disappointed. Worst case scenario, we have to wait until Friday!! Hang in there everyone!

@tsbna44 yes exactly ! My son has even said he enjoys the envelope in the mailbox. He actually had one from a smaller private school that did it without an email first and the excitement and smile on his face was so good to see. We are OOS , he knew UT was a stretch and is leaning towards Purdue direct admit to engineering . He has heard from 5 and 3 remaining , UT, UNC and VT. We have learned from our oldest he can’t really make a decision until all of the financial packages are received so the wait continues . Good luck everyone I think this year has turned out to be a big surprise for admission offices .

Just as a heads up, with a student at UT myself, they really don’t give any merit for OOS and as for financial aid, they can be lacking on that as well, but the huge benefit there is that they are really good at helping you gain residency for after freshman year, which brings down the tuition tremendously. Our tuition went down from $45k/year to just over $13/k this year. You can’t beat that!

How could a student gain in-state rate without having the whole family moving to NC/TX – have the student file tax return independently(without being a dependent of parents)?

Hi @newzar, sorry for any confusion.Re-read what I said. “with a student at UT myself”. I was talking about UT since @neonblizzard mentioned UT and waiting for financial packages from the various schools.

And yes, you’re correct. My daughter is an independent tax filer. As that is one of the requirements of residency of another state. There are many ways to do it there and the school will advise.
