I’ve been accepted to University of Miami and University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. I am planing to study Finance and I am having a hard time chosing which one is better for me. First, I love North Carolina and I feel like their business school (Kenan-Flagler) is way better than that for UM. I love the campus, the student life, and the rigorosity of the school. On the other hand, UM would be 13.000$ cheaper than UNC. UM is also a school were I think I would fit in more, as I am a latino with strong connections and relations with the city of Miami. My family say there is no problem on paying the difference but I wanted to lessen the pressure for my parents. Which one could be better for me for my years as a college student and for my postgraduate endeavors? Thanks
UNC Kenan-Flagler >>>>< UMiami all day everyday
@jp013501 I agree with your assessment of UNC versus Miami. It seems you know UNC is the better school. However, just because one school is objectively better than another doesn’t mean the lesser school would not offer a fine education and satisfy one’s student and career goals. Miami is a solid school and if you feel that it’s a better “fit” for you, it costs less money and if you want to intern and work in Miami, then I’d pick Miami over UNC. If your goal, however, is to work anywhere outside of Florida then UNC would likely offer better prospects of finding a job.
Business isn’t my field, but Miami is a great school!
Both schools have the same middle 50% ACT, and it is very high, so you will be surrounded by brilliance either way.
UNC 80% in-state, Miami only 30%. Miami much more diverse.
UNC heavily female.
$52k is a lot of money!
“The lesser school”. Good lord.
