UNCA to UNC Transfer

Hey! I’m thinking of transferring from UNCA to UNC- hopefully I’ll get accepted- but I need to plan ahead obviously. I’m finishing up my freshman year and in the beginning of the year I was super unsure of what to do and was planning on majoring in art. That being said I’m three or four classes away from an art minor, but I wasn’t sure how this would work if I plan on transferring anyway? If I meet the requirements for an art minor from UNC, would it be better to pursue it there or at UNCA while I am still here? I want to major in biology, or at least take the required courses for medical school- so even if I major in something else I’d be prepared but biology is the most likely. My second option is possibly double majoring in biology and art, or minoring in art but again not sure of how to go about that.

Most of my credits will transfer, I’m just super unsure of where to go from here and I feel really overwhelmed. Nothing against UNCA, but I’ve realized it’s really not for me. Asheville is nice, but this school is not challenging and I am not learning anything. I need to be at an institution which is going to actually challenge me. I really would love to go to UNC, but I’m also open to suggests. My goal is to at least complete the required classes to apply to medical school and if things change they change but that is my hope.

As of right now I have a great gpa and I am in good standing in all of my classes. Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Most (if not all) minors require you to take a few classes at UNC-CH. If I were you I would research what gen eds WILL transfer and focus on those so you can focus on your major and minor core classes when you get to Chapel Hill.
